Toxins, 4 Tips to Reduce Exposure
Toxins are a hot topic these days, and I am here to shed some light on how toxins impact your health and may be the hidden reason you are experiencing chronic symptoms. The good news about the human body is you have a built-in detoxification system that works hard every day to filter out toxins from your body. However, the amount of toxins you are exposed to is increasing, pushing your detoxification system into overdrive. To provide some context, there are 85,000 known toxins registered in the Environmental Protective Agency, and 40,000 are active. Do you know what is even crazier? Unrecognizable toxins have been found in the umbilical cord of newborns. That means we may be exposed to toxins starting before birth.
Our society is sicker than ever before, with the rise of chronic diseases affecting more than 96 million Americans. Even with these overwhelming statistics, the secret to reducing your chance of developing a chronic condition or building a resilient body to fight against disease starts by emptying your toxin bucket. So how does one begin reducing their toxin burden? Let me tell you.
Your toxin bucket is being filled up every day from the air you breathe (hello pollution), the water you drink (hello chemicals and pharmaceuticals), and the food you consume (hello GMOs and pesticides). If you are sitting there with your jaw dropped, just wait. Did you know that some chronic conditions are connected to the toxins listed? Chronic disease is debilitating. The fatigue, the skin rashes, and the gut distress are not something that you should have to deal with. Humans were built to adapt and survive, and that’s exactly what your body is doing, surviving. However, your goal should be to thrive without these chronic symptoms, without these chronic conditions. It is time to reduce your toxin burden and reach your full potential.
How to Reduce Toxin Load
Add indoor plants
Indoor plants can help decrease indoor air pollution. Decorate your space with plants that purify the indoor air to limit your exposure to pollution. Plants that purify the indoor air: Peace Lily, Snake Plants, Lady Palm, English Ivy.
2. Get a water filter
Installing a water filter can decrease your exposure to heavy metals, pharmaceuticals, and other harmful chemicals. My favorite water filter is the Berkey. To learn more about the step-by-step guide to choosing a water filter, check out EWG. If a filter is not in your budget, buying Mountain Valley Spring Water or filtered water are other great options.
3. Buy organic foods when possible
Buying organic foods can help decrease your exposure to pesticides and herbicides. Purchasing organic can get pricey, so, looking at the EWG’s Fifteen Clean and Dirty Dozen list can help you navigate which foods are best to buy organic and which foods are okay to purchase non-organic to save money supporting your health.
4. Open up drainage pathways
Drainage pathways make sure the toxins move out of the body and not recirculate. The ability to excrete toxins is only possible when drainage pathways function optimally. When they become stagnant, toxins can accumulate in the body and lead to symptoms of dis-ease.
Opening up drainage pathways is non-negotiable and often the missing piece to healing. That is why following the Organically Glow Method is essential when addressing toxins. If you have done everything and still feel stuck in the chronic symptom cycle, contact us.
